About "My account" and profile

"My account" is used to change the personal and security details that you set up at registration and to create or update your search profile.

The search profile applies each time you search or browse through the catalogue. The profile contains filters that will remove some books from your search results. For example, if you do not read braille or large print you can set the search formats to streamed audio and Daisy CD so that you will only see books that are available as audio in the search results. The results will show if an audio book is also available as braille but you would not see books that are only in braille or large print.

The filters that you can apply are:

  • Formats
  • Languages
  • Narrator gender for audio books
  • The running time for audio books
  • Number of volumes for braille books

Once you have set these you select the update button to save your changes and these filters will apply to all searches from then on. You can use the advanced search option to override these options for a specific search.

Changing your personal details

This option allows you to change your:

  • Title
  • First name
  • Surname
  • Gender
  • Date of birth
  • Telephone
  • Fax number
  • Preferences to receive literature from RNIB
  • Option to have the title of CDs obtained through the bookclub printed on the CD label

To change your personal details select the option to change personal details from the account menu then:

  1. Alter the required details using the form provided
  2. Select the update button
  3. The personal details page is displayed again with a message under the page heading stating that the details have been updated

Changing your email address

To change your email address select the option to change email address from the account menu then:

  1. Enter your new email address in the form provided. This is entered twice to check for spelling errors
  2. Select the update button
  3. The change email address page is shown again with a message under the page heading stating that the email address has been updated

Changing your password

To change your password select the option to change password from the account menu then:

  1. Enter your new password in the form provided. This is entered twice to check for spelling errors
  2. Select the update button
  3. The change password page is shown again with a message under the page heading stating that the password has been updated

Updating your profile

To change your profile terms select the option to update your profile from the account menu then:

  1. Enter your profile details in the form provided
  2. Select the update button when all details are correct
  3. The profile page is shown again with a message under the page heading stating that the profile has been updated
